A Birthday and a Baptism

Happy Happy Birthday Zack!!
Long ago in the month of February, this guy had a birthday!!  He was so excited to turn 8!  We celebrated with cake and ice cream at Grandma and Grandpa Chambers house.  We also celebrated Preston's, Grandpa's and Eli's birthdays.

We did presents the next day before church which was his actual birthday.  I think he was most excited about his 60 pack of Pokemon.  He kind of liked his scriptures but was a tad bit upset that his didn't have a middle initial on them like Jackson's did.  Oh well.  And then we have the Legos which he was excited about and played with for a few days and then they are just all over.  I don't know why I keep buying them.

And along with birthday #8 comes a baptism.  This was why he was so excited to turn 8!  He could hardly wait until this day.  I on the other hand couldn't wait for this day to be over.  I was still in the beginning of my pregnancy and not feeling super good and on top of that I had a cold.  I went home and took a two hour nap when it was all done.  But besides that, I think the day went great!  Dave did a great job baptising and confirming Zackery.  Too good of a job.  All of the cousins wanted him to have to do it twice!  Funny kids.  He even got to be baptised on the same day as one of his friends, Kyle Butters.  After the baptism we went to our church and had lunch with all of our families.  Lot's of good food and lot's of good company!

Zackery is such a fun boy to have in our family!  Most days.  Some days I want to put him out on the porch and lock the doors until Dave gets home.  Other days he is such a good boy.  He can be very helpful when he chooses to be.  He might be a little too smart for his own good!  He does so well in school.  Especially reading.  Every week when we go to church he falls asleep in Sacrament meeting.  Sometimes we even catch him snoring.  It's pretty funny actually!  I don't think he sleeps very well at night.  Somehow he knows all the answers in primary even when you think he's not paying attention.  He usually has his tie around his head like Rambo and he never leaves his shoe laces in his Sunday shoes.  Drives me bonkers!  Now that he is 8, Zack also gets to start going to Cub Scouts which he is super excited about!

Part of me wants to keep him this age and not let him grow up and part of me can't wait to see what kind of person he will grow up to be.  We just need to channel him in the right direction and I am sure he will do amazing things!

We love our Zack Attack!

PRESTON'S BIRTHDAY!!

Preston had another birthday!!  In February he turned 7 and told me that 7 is so much better than being 6.  We didn't have a big party or anything but I think he had fun anyway.  He got exactly what he wanted so he was super excited.  He got a pack of 60 Pokemon cards, a remote control car and some legos.

Preston was in a hurry to get here seven years ago (he was born 5 weeks early) but has taken his time since then.  He didn't walk until he was 17 months old and now he is always the last one ready for anything.  Last one dressed, last one with his lunch made, last one to get his shoes on and tied, last one to be out the door.  Oh but we love him so much.  I love his super blond hair and his bright blue eyes.  He is a smart boy and does so well in school.  He loves to read.  Almost as much as Zack.  He is learning to play the piano and gets so excited when he passes off a song.  He also just started tumbling and he loves it!  We love you Preston!!  Happy Happy Birthday to you!!!

MISCHEVIOUS LITTLE LUCAS!

Luke's adventures as of late:

Cardboard in the bathtub.  Which he of course had to sog up with water.

Gold fish in the bathtub.  Again, sogged up with water.

Milk in the toaster.

Bright pink fingernail polish on the counter, the bar stool, the wood floor, and the carpet.

Playing in the sugar.  I found him in the pantry twice yesterday transferring the sugar from one            container to the next.  With most of it ending up on the floor.  (Between all of the kids a 25 lb bag of sugar is gone.)

Cut up some pictures that I was getting ready to scrapbook.

Pulls his twin matress off his bed almost every single day.

Gets into the spice cupboard and dumps everything into a pan and mixes it all together.

Cereal all over the kitchen floor and basement floor.  More than once.

Unravels my sewing thread all over the house.

Gets handfuls of toilet paper, dips it in the toilet, then throws it all over the bathroom.

Throws absolutely everything.

Loves to play in my make-up.

Found some lotion, toothpaste and other cream that he squeezed out of their containers and into the bathtub.

Even when I think I know where he is and what he is doing, somehow I lose him and he is into something else! I cannot keep up with him!  It might actually be nice to have him in preschool when he starts in a couple of weeks.  Despite all of this, I still think he is so stinkin cute!  And slowly but surely he is learning to talk.  Finally!  I love this little guy so much!

LAS VEGAS RAGNAR

The pictures are all jumbled up but this is our Las Vegas Ragnar.  Woot! Woot!  We started out by driving down to St. George the night before.  Had dinner, went to Walmart and then went to bed way too late.  Van 1 got up at 4 am on Friday morning and drove another 2 hours to get to the starting point.  And off we went!  Chad started us off at 7:30 and we just kept on running for the next 32 hours.

This is Chad.  Doesn't he look excited?  Before he started his last leg his foot was hurting so bad that he could barely walk.  He was a trooper though and made it through.  A couple of weeks after the race he went to the doctor and turns out he had a stress fracture so he is in a boot for four weeks.  The things we put our bodies through!
The guys totally killed it!  I think Preston did 7 miles in 59 minutes, Dave did 7.3 miles in 1 hour 5 minutes and Micah did 4.8 miles in 36 minutes.  The girls didn't do too bad either.  I did 5.3 miles in 50 minutes and my personal best for 3.1 miles in 27 minutes.  Everyone had awesome times but this is all I remember off the top of my head.  Coming up to exchange 18 we had to tell Micah to slow down because the race officials weren't letting teams continue if they were ahead of their estimated time.  He was pretty ticked but we made it work and they let us continue on.

Here we all are at the finish line.  Good job team I'D STILL RATHER BE NARFING!  More than anything, it's just fun being with family for two days straight.  We encourage each other, tell jokes, share food and drinks, get a bit sarcastic, and of course their is lots of laughing!  Everyone stayed mostly pleasant considering the amount of sleep we get during a relay race.
Hanging out at the starting line.  We are getting excited!!

Who does this during a race?  Apparently having 2 miles added to his 1st leg (cause he was nice and switched legs with his wife1) didn't bother him too much.

Way to start us off Chad!

This is the reason we did the relay in Las Vegas.  The Saints and Sinners medal (the ones on the outside).  If you do Wasatch Back Ragnar (which we did in June) and Las Vegas Ragnar in the same year then you get the Saints and Sinners medal along with the regular Ragnar medal.  Totally worth it!
Here's Dan bringing us in at the end!

This was what we got at the 2nd major exchange.  Pretty nice isn't it?!  It was a great place to relax and get a little bit of sleep.  Some of the guys took their shirts off and jumped in the pool for a bit.  Jen wasn't on our team but we ended seeing her while we were at this location.  And then at a few more exchanges.
Not sure which family member started all of this running business but we sure have fun doing it together!  This was our second Ragnar Relay as a family and it definatly is not the last!
